Surrey launches community-driven online channel

Surrey-ites have a new television channel - but they won’t have to tune their aerials to receive it. Channel Surrey is a web-based TV channel, viewable on YouTube and video players on local web sites. Fronted by a team of local reporters, who source the stories too, the channel is aiming to win an audience by being as grass-roots as possible. The channel started in response to a neighbourhood survey that revealed a perception that young people are responsible for most crime and antisocial behaviour in the county - when the truth is they are involved with a quarter – and its goal is to challenge stereotypes.
