Dave Weston
Night Supervisor, Vitaline, Blackpool Council
For 18 years David Weston has supported thousands of Blackpool's elderly, disabled and vulnerable people, working through the night at Vitaline - a busy 24-hour monitoring/response service.
A dedicated, kind and well-respected supervisor, David's dedication went beyond expectations when he courageously saved an elderly client from her burning property last August.
Hard of hearing, the 91-year-old had failed to hear the smoke alarm but Vitaline was alerted something was wrong.
Taking no chances, David rushed to the property to find it well alight. He called the emergency services but, realising the urgency of the situation, he entered the house to rescue the lady - despite the growing, thick, acrid smoke.
What stands David apart is his modesty and dedication; he refused medical treatment and calmly returned to the office to complete his shift.
His brave actions earned him praise from Lancashire Fire & Rescue and eternal gratitude from the lady's family.
