West Oxfordshire Flood Response Team
West Oxfordshire District Council
The team's total focus has been on helping people hard hit when five inches of rain fell on West Oxfordshire in a single day - an all time record. Staff worked 80 hours non-stop, delivering sandbags, answering well over 600 emergency calls, finding shelter or temporary housing and updating the public. Teamwork has continued in the aftermath with over 120 staff involved directly with flood victims and the recovery programme as well as keeping other council services going. We believe that West Oxfordshire District Council employees, working with our partners, have demonstrated outstanding team effort to the benefit of the community.
