We all recognise that the secret to supporting children and families is to make sure social care staff are out in the community as much as possible – but with increasing paperwork to follow how can this be achieved? The Children and Families service at the London Borough of Barnet is tackling the problem by giving social workers hand-held PCs. The system aims to link back office with social workers in the field and is helping the council invest more in front-line services.
