A mixed response from the general public

The Conservative Party's new green paper on Returning Power to Local Communities outlines how they want to shift power from central state to local people and local institutions. The proposals include giving England's biggest cities a vote on bringing in directly elected mayors if they win power. The Local Government Channel has been out on the streets of London, home to the country’s first elected mayor, to find out how good an idea the public thinks elected mayors really is.
