CCTV Control Room Operative, Hull City Council
Aged 27 James became the youngest member of staff in January 2000 monitoring just 40 city centre cameras until the 332 city wide system came on line in 2004. During the last year James has dealt with 277 incidents leading to 151 arrests and CCTV evidence in 42 Court hearings. Following a very serious assault in the city centre during the summer of 2007 James quick thinking and initiative led to the arrest of an offender within ninety minutes of the offence, later described as "very dangerous" by the Judge who heard his case.
