Frank Charles
Street Crime Warden, London Borough of Waltham Forest
Frank joined the Waltham Forest Street Warden service in 2004. The warden role is something that Frank has taken to heart. Since joining the service he has received a number of awards for the work he does work including the Local Government Chronicle Public Servant Of The Year Award. His community work includes organising Reading Clubs, football coaching sessions and organising the Give A Gift Appeal At Whipps Cross Hospital for sick children at Christmas. He also runs activities for older residents such as the monthly Tea Club, helps with bingo afternoons and has used his Djing skills at a number of residential homes to enhance their events. Frank has also worked within the BME community and organised a number of festive evenings which involved the communities meeting and enjoying a banquet. These occasions were also intergenerational because the local guests were served by local youths. In 2007 Frank also under took charity work and assisted with raising funds for Red Nose Day and also for Breast Cancer Awareness.
