Porters Angelo Parente and Vic Cox were on duty at Tottenham Town Hall when a man doused in petrol came in and set himself alight. It happened without warning, in front of some 30 pensioners waiting for an advice session. There was an explosion and severe blaze. Vic called 999 and Angelo stepped in with fire fighting equipment. They put out the fire and helped the public to safety as emergency services arrived. Their calm, professional response ensured the public were evacuated and seriously injured victim assisted as quickly as possible. Both employees reported for work as normal next day.
